I am an art historian, teacher, certified tour guide, and the founder of Walk Mexico, a project I created in 2015 to promote and celebrate the culture and history of Mexico.

Born and raised in Mexico City, I am passionate about teaching and revealing the stories of everyday life throughout my country’s history. I use art as a window into the past — to show how people lived, how the city looked, what they wore, what they did, and how this vibrant metropolis has evolved over more than 700 years of history.

My expertise focuses on Mexico City and its surroundings, from the 1300s to the 1950s — spanning the Pre-Hispanic and Viceregal periods, the 19th century, and the early 20th century, with special attention to Mexican Muralism and Modernist architecture.

Daughter of two history professors, I carry a love for teaching in my veins. I am a writer and art historian with a PhD in Contemporary Art, and a regular contributor to several cultural and film magazines. Winner of a National Essay Prize in Photography, I am fascinated by the meanings and implications of image, cinema, new media archaeology, literature, gastronomy, and nature.

During my guided tours, I love to draw unexpected connections — weaving together stories and facts that, at first glance, seem to have nothing in common.

I have a restless and adventurous spirit, and a naturally multidisciplinary mind. After many years of living a nomadic life, I decided to return to my birthplace and finally put down roots. Now I share my beloved city with others, just as I was welcomed in distant lands.

I have always felt an irrepressible need to engage in dialogue, to learn, and to teach — whether as a student, teacher, or guide — and the years devoted to these roles have given me valuable tools for communication. I enjoy exploring and understanding contemporary issues, especially those related to art, politics, and history.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design and a Master’s in Contemporary History from the University of Havana, and I have taught at several higher education institutions in Mexico.

I have over 15 years of experience leading cultural and historical tours in English, German, and Spanish. Born in Switzerland and raised in Mexico City, I have lived and worked in cities such as San Francisco, London, and Berlin, where I founded my own tour agency.

With a background in Anthropology and Music, I have always been deeply curious about cultures and people. Now that I am based once again in Mexico City, I continue sharing my passion for history through engaging and memorable tours that reveal the many layers of this extraordinary city.

The sun hits differently in Teotihuacán at nine in the morning. The groups still arrive a little sleepy, some still fighting jet lag, and that's when Eloy would show up: big straw hat, badge around his neck, already talking with his hands before the words even caught up. He never just recited dates. He told Teotihuacán the way you tell the story of your own home — because, in every way that mattered, it was.

Eloy joined Walk Mexico in 2018, and from the very beginning, family after family, traveler after traveler, the same line kept coming back after every tour — that Eloy was the best, that he explained with his heart leading and his facts always in order, that his passion came through in every word and in everything he shared and taught.

Few guides carry a story as brave as his. As a young man he crossed into the United States to work as a migrant, and after living through years that were far from easy, he came back to Mexico and became certified as a guide in Teotihuacán, the site he would come to know like few others. No one explains a place quite like someone who explains it from the inside — and even more so, with the heart and the pride of being Mexican.

This photograph captures him perfectly: holding a stranger's baby in his arms, still pointing at the horizon, never losing the thread of what he was saying — because his warm energy drew in everything good, even the babies. With Eloy, it was never just a tour. It was an afternoon with someone who truly wanted you to leave with something — a feeling, a reason to look at Teotihuacán with new eyes.

Over time, Eloy became more than a fellow guide: he became a friend who was always looking out for us, who felt like family.

Born and raised in Mexico City, I am passionate about archaeology and ancient civilizations. I studied Archaeology at the National School of Anthropology and History (ENAH) and work with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH).

Throughout my career, I have participated in numerous excavations across Mexico and, in recent years, in the fascinating archaeological digs in the Historic Center of Mexico City — uncovering lost traces of the ancient Mexica city hidden beneath the colonial architecture.

I also love giving tours, where I combine both passions — sharing my firsthand experience as an archaeologist while bringing Mexico’s history to life for visitors from around the world.
